Great New Wave: Contemporary Art from Japan
This group of artists that was recently put on display at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria represents a new generation and new era for art in Japan. Their work explores the complex realities of our globalized world and the strength of the contemporary art scene in Tokyo and beyond. As part of this exhibition artist Yoshiaki Kaihatsu was here for a week to build an architectural structure from recycled materials in response to the Gallery’s Shinto Shrine. The exhibition included works in a variety of media, including drawing, installation, photography, sculpture, textile and video
